Samples Simplified ("we", "our", "the app") is a Shopify application that helps merchants manage and control free product samples on their stores. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data We Collect
When you install Samples Simplified, we collect and store:
- Store information: Your Shopify store domain and authenticated session data, as required by Shopify for app functionality.
- App configuration: Sample rules, pricing model settings, theme extension preferences, and other merchant-defined settings within the app.
- Sample product records: References to source products and their mirrored sample counterparts, including Shopify product and variant IDs, titles, and image URLs.
- Aggregate order data: Total sample order counts per store for limit enforcement. We do not store individual order details or customer information.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or process:
- Customer personal information (names, emails, addresses, phone numbers)
- Payment or financial information
- Customer browsing behavior or analytics
- Any data from store visitors or buyers
All customer-facing validation is performed by Shopify Functions at checkout using data managed entirely by Shopify.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to:
- Create and manage mirrored sample products on your store
- Enforce sample rules and per-customer limits at checkout
- Display sample options on your storefront via the theme extension
- Maintain your app configuration between sessions
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the app's functionality.
4. Data Storage and Security
- App data is stored on secure servers hosted by Fly.io with encryption at rest.
- All communication between the app and Shopify uses HTTPS encryption.
- Session tokens are validated server-side on every request using Shopify's authentication framework.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. Your data is never transferred to external services beyond what is required for the app to function within the Shopify platform.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your data is retained only while the app is installed on your store.
- When you uninstall Samples Simplified, all app data associated with your store — including sample product records, shop settings, and session data — is automatically and permanently deleted.
- Shopify-managed data such as metafields on products and shop resources is handled directly by Shopify upon app removal.
7. GDPR and Privacy Compliance
Samples Simplified complies with mandatory Shopify privacy webhooks:
We confirm that no customer personal data is stored in our systems.
No action required as we do not store customer personal data.
All store data is permanently deleted from our database.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
